メズーザは神の戒めを覚え、それに従って生きるためにユダヤ人が家の玄関の柱に取り付けるもの。メズーザケースの中に申命記6:4-9、申命記11:13-21の聖句を入れます。（申命記 6:9、11:20「…これをあなたの家の門柱と門に書きしるしなさい」）。
中に入れる聖句は同じですが、入れるケースは色々なタイプの物があります。
