Tiberias is a city on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, Lower Galilee, Israel. Tiberias plays an important role in Jewish history. It was part of the land bequeathed to Naphtali (Joshua 19:35). In the Second Temple period Tiberias held the High Court of Israel. Under Roman rule, Jesus lived in the Tiberias district.
